Mixed content errors: What they are and how to fix them

Last updated: November 06, 2020

What does this mean?

Sometimes a website will show as insecure because some of the content for the website is being loaded in an insecure way.

You can see if a website has mixed content errors by opening the developer tools in your web browser. In Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome you can open the developer tools by hitting CTRL + ALT + I , then click on the Console tab. If nothing appears, refresh the page.

How to fix the problem

If you have a WordPress website, you can easily fix the problem by installing the Really Simple SSL plugin. If you’re using any other website platform (Magento, Drupal, etc.) you may need to speak to a web developer to resolve the issue.
