How to clone an existing WordPress installation in Softaculous

Last updated: August 19, 2020

If you have an existing WordPress installation setup in Softaculous, which you need to clone, or create a staging environment or a new/separate website.
If you cannot see the website inside Softaculous, follow our guide on how to import your WordPress website into Softaculous first. Then complete the cloning process.

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Navigate to Softaculous Applications Installer (can be found under the Software tab).
  3. Click Installations.
  4. Click the Clone icon next to your website in the list.
  5. From here, choose the protocol, domain name and directory (optional) you would like the site copied to.
You will need to ensure the domain you’re cloning into is already added to cPanel as an add-on domain or sub-domain.
  6. Click Clone Installation.

That’s it! Now you have a copy of your website on a different domain and/or directory.
